Lagos - Victoria Island

"SakaRiver" in Victoria Island Lagos also known as Telecom River because of the big number of telecom companies which have their sites there. Being on a 6 degrees North Latitude - Lagos has a equatorial climate. One can only imagine that rain falls almost every day and the holes in the streets make "rivers".

Coal market in Lagos. The selpersons never leave their places, waiting for someone to buy their precious black load.

Once a beautiful beach - Bar Beach - now the polluted sand and water makes it unbearable ... Still there are people who enjoy it.

The highlife of Victoria Island - The sign reads:Your Own Penthouse Upper Class Lagos to London. Down on the streets common people dry their clothing on the fences raised between them and the "Upper Class".

Back from Africa

I was to Nigeria from 16th of Sep 2005 till 2nd of Nov 2005.

Here you can see a glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean as well as a part of a beautiful beach near Lagos.

Hard to believe that there is so much garbage.

The pictures were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 3700 on 18th sept.
